Fall is one of my favourite seasons. It’s that time of year when the air starts feeling a little more crisp and sweater weather comes into play.

In general, the vibes in the fall just don’t compare to any other season. From the fashion to the Pumpkin Spice lattes, there is nothing quite like it. But what about our skin care routine? Does that have to change now that the weather has gone from warm to cool?

In my opinion, your skin care and makeup routine should be altered with every changing season. This is because our skin also changes with the weather. That means that so should the products we put on our bodies.

Summer vs Fall

In the summer, we should be searching for products that are not too heavy because of the warmer weather. In the fall, our skin starts to be a little dryer so we need to replenish it with hydrating products.

In this post, I will be recommending the most essential skin care products that your skin will crave this fall. I myself have tested an endless amount of skin care products because my skin is constantly altering, especially with each changing season. So I will recommend all the products that I know you will love this time of year.

This list will vary from high end to drug store products, so that way you won’t feel like you need to drop a ton of money on your beauty routine.

Fall Skin Care Products: Cleanser

Let’s start off with 2 basic but amazing cleansers.

The first one is Effaclar by the brand La Roche Posay. This cleanser is great for someone who is prone to acne. Usually in the summertime our acne tends to clear up because of the sun and water exposure. But once fall starts to roll around again, the breakouts begin.

This cleanser is the best way to help prevent those breakouts. With its medicated formula, this product helps keep your acne away. What I love about this cleanser is that although you feel it working on your blemishes, it does not strip your skin from moisture.

This is an absolutely amazing cleanser for acne that will quickly become a staple in your skin care routine for fall and winter.

The next product is my holy grail cleanser. It is something that is a monthly purchase in my home.

The reason I love it so much is because it is a basic cleanser with no harsh chemicals at a great price point. And I love the fact that it is foaming. It really makes my face feel clean and fresh after I wash it.

Not only is this facial cleanser great for fall but in my opinion, all year long.

Fall Skin Care Products: Serum

Sometimes it is difficult to decide what serums we should be adding to our skin care routine. Depending on your skin type and what your skin goals are, there are different serums for different reasons.

But if you are specifically looking for more hydrated skin this fall, I suggest Hyaluronic Acid. I will always make room for this serum in my skin care routine because of the way it makes my skin feel and look.

The great news is that this serum does not have to be expensive. In fact, my 2 favourite Hyaluronic Acid serums are very affordable.

The first one is from the brand The Ordinary. The price point on this product is absolutely insane. And in my opinion works just well as the high end brands that go for a ton of money.

Second on the list is Revitalift from L’Oreal. I am obsessed with this serum because of the beautiful glow it gives me every day.

I personally love to gently spray my face with a little water and then apply this serum on top. It really locks the moisture into my pores and the glow peeks through my skin all day long.

I was super impressed with this product considering you can find it at the drug store or on Amazon.

This is the perfect serum to add to your skin care routine this fall when your skin is feeling dull and dry!

Vitamin C

It is great to add a Vitamin C serum to your skin care routine especially in the months where your skin is not as exposed to the sun.

Unfortunately, Vitamin C serums tend to be super expensive! The good news is that the brand The Inky List has an incredible Vitamin C serum for a great price.

I have personally tried many Vitamin C serums from different brand and this specific one is just as good as the high end brands. It is definitely worth giving it a try!

Toner

The one toner that I am going to recommend should technically be a summer product because of its juicy watermelon smell. And although this does work well in the summer, I personally love using it when I am dry and in need of hydration.

The Watermelon Glow Toner from the brand Glow Recipe is perfection in a bottle. I have tested countless toners in my life and although there are many that I have tried and loved, nothing quite compares to this toner.

This toner refreshes my skin when I apply it and gives me the most stunning glow. I love to use it day or night because it does not dry out my skin. In fact, it does the quite opposite.

This is a fantastic product to purchase during the cold, dry months. I promise, you will not regret trying out this toner!

Acne Care

In the summer, we tend to spend a lot of time outside in the sun and in the water. This is why you may notice that your skin may look and feel clearer during those months.

As soon as fall rolls around and the cooler weather hits, our skin also feels it.

This is when it is best to start using a product that not only helps to get rid of pimples but something that also helps prevent break outs.

Effaclar Duo acne treatment from La Roche Posay is that product that you are looking for.

My teenage daughter was struggling with acne last year and I purchased so many acne treatments for her to try. Nothing worked. After seeing someone recommend this product on TikTok, I quickly ordered it off Amazon and as soon as she started using it, the results were almost instant. Lip Care

When it comes to lip products, there is no specific season to use them. Lip care is great all year around.

The Lip Sleeping Mask from La Neige is such a great way to hydrate your lips overnight. They come in a bunch of different scents which are all amazing. For every changing season they always come out with limited edition scents. Last year for fall they came out with Pumpkin Spice and it was so good!

Not only is this product a great lip mask but I personally use it as a gloss all day. It is too good to only use at night!

Sleeping Face Mask

The brand Dr. Jart did not lie when they called this sleeping mask Intensive Soothing Repair. It does exactly that!

Using this product once a week will help sooth and replenish your dry, dull skin.

I love slathering my skin in this before bed because my skin looks flawless and hydrated in the morning. This sleeping mask is the perfect product to replenish your skin against the cold dry weather.

This is a constant repurchase for me and it always will be during the cooler months.

Moisturizer

Choosing a great moisturizer is so hard because there are so many on the market. In this category I will recommend my 3 favourite moisturizers in 3 different price ranges.

Let’s face it, the brand Tatcha is not cheap. All of their products come with a pretty price and I feel as though not all of their products are worth spending that much. But their moisturizers are amazing.

Both the Water Cream and The Dewy Skin Cream are great, hydrating moisturizers. But in my opinion, the water cream is great for the summer months because of its extra light and watery formula. The Dewy Skin Cream is thicker (not heavy) so it is great to nourish your skin. I love the dewy look it gives me.

I really enjoy pairing this moisturizer with its matching face cleanser. The both of them together are chefs kiss!

The Cicalfate Restorative Protective Cream went viral when Haley Bieber recommended it on her TikTok account. That is the reason I personally bought it and I’m sure glad that I did.

This cream is to be used only when you feel like your skin is feeling extra dry or dull. It repairs your skin and makes it feel extra hydrated the next day. It has a super thick formula, which scared me at first, but it only took one try for me to fall involve with this product.

The day after using it, my skin is so silky and hydrated. And the price point isn’t crazy either so it can definitely be a repurchase on your skin care list.

Both Face and Body

The CeraVe Moisturizing lotion is probably recommended in all of my beauty posts because it is one of my all time favourite products.

Technically, it can be placed in the body care category as well. I use this lotion on my face and body. I love that it is just a basic cream with nothing too fancy about it, but it does its job perfectly.

It is an extremely light weight lotion and it comes in a large bottle that lasts forever. This should definitely be something that is always on your skin care shelf.

Body Care

You don’t exactly have to go crazy overthinking body care. There are so many great body care products out there that this category really is about personal preference.

Whether it’s Bath and Body Works, Victoria’s Secret or The Tree Hut Brand, they all come out with their fall collections every year and they hit the mark every time.

I personally love the 3 products below.

The Tree Hut Scrubs don’t need an introduction because they have a great reputation. They are very affordable body scrubs that not only leave your skin feeling super soft after exfoliated, but they smell incredible.

They come in many different scents and my personal favourite for fall is the Pumpkin Spice Latte.

If you are going for something a little more luxurious with a fresh scent, the Scalp and Body Scrub from the brand Ouai is really the way to go.

I am obsessed with every product that I have tried from this brand and this scrub is no exception. It feels so amazing on the skin and this light and fresh scent stays on for hours after your shower.

The 24H Moisture Body Lotion from EOS, specifically in the scent in Vanilla Cashmere is like no other.

At one point you could not find this product anywhere! It was sold out on Amazon, Target and Walmart. It was only when I tried this lotion myself that I truly understood why.

It is an incredibly body lotion that makes your skin feel so soft…but the smell. Oh the smell. And it last so so long on the skin.

Self Tanning

Self tanners are so hard to shop for! Most of the ones I have tested always make me look so orange because my natural skin colour is so pale.

I was so happy when I tried out the Self Tanning Drops by Isle of Paradise. I found these tanning drops to be so unique because of the way you apply it to your body.

All you have to do is use a body lotion of your choice and add a few drops of this product to it. Slather it evenly and your body and the next day you will have the perfect glow. Obviously the more you add, the darker you will become, so it’s really trial and error. Test it out to see how many drops works well for you.

You can also do this for your face. Just add a drop or 2 to your favourite moisturizer and apply as usual. It’s super simple and effective! You will not be able to live without it during the sunless months.

SPF

Just because we are in the fall months does not mean that you should stop wearing your SPF. SPF should be worn every single day no matter what month or season.

Below are 2 products that are basic but work so well.

The Anthekios Mineral tinted 50 SPF is also another product that you will see in almost all my recommended beauty posts. That is because this amazing product is my ultimate holy grail tinted moisturizer.

I do not leave the house without this on my skin. It is a perfect tinted moisturizer that also protects your skin from the sun. It does not make you look patchy or cakey at all. In fact, it does the quite opposite.

When wearing this product, my skin looks clear, hydrated and glowy. It is the best tinted SPF in my opinion and I think you should defiantly give it a try this fall.

If you are searching for more of a basic SPF with no tint, there is no need to go spend a ton of money at Sephora. This product does the same thing that the high end SPF’s do without the hight price point.

The Weightless Face By Hawaiian Tropic is a beautiful, hydrating SPF cream that gives you the most amazing glass skin.

You can easily find it on Amazon and the bottle fits perfectly in your purse for all day re-application.

Conclusion

In Conclusion, changing up your skin care routine with every changing season is a must.

One thing that never changes no matter what season it is, is your sunscreen. Sunscreen should be part of your daily skin care routine no matter what. You will thank me later!

Another thing that should never change from season to season is staying hydrated. Remember that beauty comes from within. If you are not drinking enough water, it will show on your face, no matter how expensive your skin care routine is.
